Poppy Denby Investigates

I am delighted to announce that I have just signed a contract with Lion Fiction for the first in a series of mystery novels, set in the 1920s. Tentatively called ‘Above the Fold’, the first of the Poppy Denby Mysteries, it will be coming out in September in the UK, and soon after that, elsewhere. Poppy is a female reporter on a London newspaper in the Roaring Twenties. Here is a cartoon that a friend of mine, Chris Bambrough, did on hearing the news.

Project Cube animation

Just spent a fab couple of weeks working on an animation script for Project Cube. Project Cube is an interactive digital world for 8 – 11s helping them to explore the stories of the Bible. I have been writing the animation script from a story by Bob Hartman. The animation will be brought to life by Home Plate Entertainment whose Producer, Bill Schultz, has previously produced classic shows such as The Simpsons and Jakers! I’m very excited to see how this develops from page to screen …

Swanning around in Swanwick

For the last three years I have had the honour of attending the Christian Resources Together Retreat in Swanwick. In previous years I have led seminars on behalf of the Association of Christian Writers. This year I had the privilege of being in a panel discussion ‘On the Sofa with Clem’ with authors Bob Hartman, Sheridan Voysey and Luke Wordsey as well as reps from the Bible Society and SPCK. I also was part of a panel with Speaking Volumes, a wonderful charity which I’m proud to support. Apart from that, my little publishing company Crafty Publishing had a stall to showcase our Young David Books and apps. I was accompanied by my beautiful assistant Rodney Smith who manfully manned the stall while I flitted around ‘networking’. Couldn’t do it without you babes! — at The Hayes Conference Centre Swanwick

Free download of Hairy Beast

Back from a fabulous launch in London of the Young David Book apps. I was interviewed live on Premier Radio by Maria Rodrigues on the day of the launch. Amazing to think these stories that started simply as a children’s talk in my local church have now gone global!!!!! For two more days only you can download your free copy of David and the Hairy Beast where, in addition to having a narrated story, you can interact with the characters and move them around the page. My favourite bit is when you can sheer a sheep and fire a catapult at a hairy beast! Download your free copy for iPad here.

Biblical goes digital!

Drum roll please … a sneak peek at the Young David Book apps! Now coming out on 24 April (with free download of book 1 for first 7 days). If you click on the videos you can see a filmed version of a child interacting with The Hairy Beast and the other vid is of me being interviewed intercut with a reading illustrator Amy Barnes and I did at a school.
