I am delighted to announce that my Young David Books are now going to be published by SPCK Publishing. SPCK are one of the oldest publishing houses in the world with a track record in producing quality Christian books and resources. Illustrator Amy Warmington (nee Barnes) and I are looking forward to working with the team at SPCK to bring the Young David stories to a worldwide audience. We are sure that the young shepherd boy will be as delighted as we are. So you will no longer be able to order books directly from www.craftypublishing.com. However, they are still – and will continue to be – in bookshops in the UK and from April, will be available through SPCK. http://www.spck.org.uk/publishing/
Princess Fiona does World Book Day
I’ve been invited to a school to do creative writing workshops and book readings of my Young David Books for World Book Day tomorrow. I’ve been asked to come as a character from a book! I was just planning on coming as ‘the author’ and wearing something suitably Bohemian. But now I think I need to come as a character. And what fits better than Princess Fiona from William Steig’s ‘Shrek’? I have an old green velvet dress I last wore 23 years ago on my graduation from Rhodes University. And as long as I don’t eat or breathe, I’ll be fine. If I survive I will post a pic of me at the school. But for now, you’ll have to settle for this imposter …
Guardians of Ancora

Vintage 1923 Typewriter
It’s mine! All mine! A 1923 Remington vintage typewriter just like the one my character Poppy Denby would have used in her job on the Daily Globe. Bid against seven other people and won! Came in £8 under my top price. A belated birthday present from my darling husband and daughter. Now just waiting for the baby to be delivered ..
Poppy Denby Investigates
I am delighted to announce that I have just signed a contract with Lion Fiction for the first in a series of mystery novels, set in the 1920s. Tentatively called ‘Above the Fold’, the first of the Poppy Denby Mysteries, it will be coming out in September in the UK, and soon after that, elsewhere. Poppy is a female reporter on a London newspaper in the Roaring Twenties. Here is a cartoon that a friend of mine, Chris Bambrough, did on hearing the news.
Project Cube animation
Just spent a fab couple of weeks working on an animation script for Project Cube. Project Cube is an interactive digital world for 8 – 11s helping them to explore the stories of the Bible. I have been writing the animation script from a story by Bob Hartman. The animation will be brought to life by Home Plate Entertainment whose Producer, Bill Schultz, has previously produced classic shows such as The Simpsons and Jakers! I’m very excited to see how this develops from page to screen …
